A riveting self-biography about growing up as a minority, navigating the puzzles of childhood, morality and the curveballs of life. All of this, with the added difficulty of not knowing who your parents are, suffering abuse and being rejected over and over again.
This story, if nothing more, should give most of us a sense of gratitude and hope that most hardships in life can be overcome and will play out alright in the end. It is inspiring to read the perseverance of Angelou's character, and how easily she brushes challenges off from chapter to chapter. In this book, pages fly by filled with intriguing events and mysterious plots, just as life tends to be. Adventure, responsibility and purpose all blend into one making the stories relatable but at the same time unique.
I thoroughly enjoyed exposing my thoughts to the world of Maya Angelou and would recommend everyone to dip a toe in, as well!
