Lots of cited studies and psychology theories build up the main thesis of the author: "Happiness leads to success, not the other way around".
Supported by Achor's 7 principles to become happier and more successful, the book teaches you with scientifically backed studies how to fine tune your every day life to find more opportunities for achieving your goals (personal and otherwise) more easily. He argues that the way you view your world and the shots your mindset allows you to take will ultimately determine where you end up in life. A bit as the saying "you are what you do", he insists on letting you know that your habits and response mechanisms for the mishaps in your life will build your character, thus leading to either success (when responded to positively) or likely failure (when responded to negatively).
The book is packed with little tips and tricks as well for improving your outlook on life, too many to write in a summary but making the book worth a read nevertheless. As with all self-help, you should pick and choose the most appropriate and fitting behaviors that apply to yourself and take the advice with a grain of salt, but if the intention is to improve our "base level of happiness" then there's definitely no harm in giving this book a try. I definitely learned a thing or two!
